About

The Hungarian-Kazakh Ethnosport and Cultural Association is a non-profit civil organization whose goal is to strengthen the historical, cultural, and ethnosport connections between Kazakhstan and Hungary.

Every nation holds its own national traditions, customs, games, and arts in high regard. The Kazakh people also pay special attention to preserving and passing on their rich culture and spiritual heritage, nurturing and developing their national values and sports.

The purpose of establishing the association is to preserve the traditional national games of the Kazakh people and promote them internationally. Additionally, researching, protecting, and reviving the common historical and cultural heritage of the two countries plays an important role.

Mission and Activity Areas

The Association's main mission is to preserve the spiritual connection between the Hungarian and Kazakh peoples, revive national games, strengthen the national consciousness of young people, and deepen historical and cultural relations.

The Association operates in Hungarian and Kazakh languages. It operates on a non-commercial basis and fully complies with the laws of Hungary.

The Association carries out active work in the following main areas:

  • Wide-scale promotion of traditional Kazakh national games
  • Teaching and introducing ethnosport types
  • Participation in international ethnosport competitions
  • Developing sports and cultural cooperation between Kazakhstan and Hungary
  • Researching ancient sports and spreading them among the younger generation

The Association regularly participates in world-level Nomad Games, actively contributing to international experience exchange, sports conferences, and ethnosport research.

Historical-ethnographic research is also conducted on ancient and unique ethnosport types connected to the Hungarian people, including:

  • Bikázás (Bull Wrestling)
  • Golyózás (Marble Game)
  • Öt kő (Five Stones)

These sports are being reintroduced to today's generation with the aim of deepening young people's historical knowledge and strengthening national identity.

Key Partnership Events

  • In September 2024, a bilateral cooperation memorandum was signed with Mr. Alikhan Baymenov, President of the Togyzkumalak Federation, within the framework of the 5th World Nomad Games.
  • Between November 9-16, during the international Mangala and Togyzkumalak competition held in Ankara, Turkey, cooperation agreements were reached with Vice President Zhomart Sabyrzhanuly (Asyk Atu Federation) and Mr. Rauf Özgan, President of the Mangala Federation.

Cultural Activities

Culture is the spiritual pillar of a nation. The Hungarian-Kazakh Ethnosport and Cultural Association continuously implements large-scale projects aimed at strengthening cultural cooperation between the two countries. These programs aim to promote spiritual rapprochement between peoples, preserve historical memory, and invigorate cultural exchange.

Cultural events organized by the Association include:

  • Hungarian and Kazakh musical and dance performance programs
  • Exhibitions of national costumes and handicraft creations, presentation of jewelry and utility items
  • Scientific-practical conferences, roundtable discussions, and seminars on the Great Steppe civilization and Ancient Hungarian history
  • Film evenings, poetry readings, and literary meetings to promote national literature and arts
  • Ethno-festivals and craft demonstrations for children and youth to raise awareness of national heritage
  • Joint cultural festivals and exhibitions on the occasion of both countries' state and national holidays

These events contribute to a deeper understanding of the common cultural roots of the Hungarian and Kazakh peoples, strengthening national consciousness and mutual respect.

Strengthening friendship, mutual respect, and cooperation between peoples through the harmonization of ethnosport and culture. Through these goals, the Association aims to serve as a bridge between Kazakhstan and Hungary in historical, cultural, and spiritual terms alike.
